GE Helps Protect Critical Power Systems from Cyberattacks

GE announced the availability of its CyberSentryTM SEM Security Event Manager, a cybersecurity management and monitoring system specifically designed to help guard substation power system assets from issues or outages occurring as a result of malicious attacks or human error.

SA's Smart Grid initiative

South Africa is embarking on a co-ordinated Smart Grid initiative with the South African National Energy Development providing leadership. We think SA will be very different once SANEDI's South Afican Smart Grids Initiative gains some momentum and shows impact on the national grid operator, Eskom, municipalities and end-customers. In the meantime we, including Eskom, municipalities and end-customers wait to take direction from SANEDI's SASGI leadership.

President Obama to Visit Argonne Friday to Talk Energy Policy

President Barack Obama will return to his home state March 15 to visit Argonne National Laboratory and discuss his energy policies. Galvin Center launches new website to showcase Smart Grid Technology and Education

The mission of the Robert W. Galvin Center for Electricity Innovation is to pursue groundbreaking work in the generation, transmission, distribution, management and consumption of electricity.

The Galvin Center is bringing together researchers, industry, government and innovators to “plug-in” to IIT’s smart microgrid, research laboratories and Technology Park, creating a hub – or sandbox – for new innovations in advanced grid technology.

UCLA To Offer Smart Grid Workshop And Certificate

The University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) Smart Grid Energy Research Center is creating a smart grid training workshop and certificate for utilities, industry and government.



According to UCLA, this workshop will integrate different aspects and topics within the umbrella of smart grid, including real-world technologies deployed, applications and use case studies. The first workshop will be held March 18-22.
